Clients turn to Carley M. Rovetto for representation in a wide range of residential and commercial real estate and landlord-tenant matters throughout the District of Columbia and Maryland. Carley is Shulman Rogers’ lead landlord-tenant attorney in the District of Columbia. She guides clients through the complex and often onerous landlord-tenant court requirements, including jury demands, and litigates and advises property owners on both landlord-tenant matters and civil cases.
She resolves disputes regarding lease interpretation, alleged housing discrimination and claims of violations of housing laws, consumer protection laws and the warranty of habitability. She frequently appears in court to litigate these matters, as well as those that arise out of rental charges and damages, defaults in payments and non-monetary lease violations.
In addition to litigation and dispute resolution, Carley provides practical and thorough advice to assist clients in complying with federal, state and local laws to avoid potential civil and administrative claims. She advises clients on compliance with fair housing laws and maintaining properties consistent with regulations for subsidized or low-income units.
Prior to joining Shulman Rogers, Carley served as Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Barry G. Williams in the Circuit Court for Baltimore City. She earned her B.A. from the University of Delaware and her J.D. from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law and is licensed to practice law in the District of Columbia and Maryland.
