Shulman Rogers’ Family Law attorneys deliver successful results to countless clients throughout Maryland, the District of Columbia and Virginia in a full range of family law matters, including separation and divorce, child custody and support, alimony, property division, domestic violence, guardianships, adoptions, premarital agreements and international family law matters.
Each client has their own specific situation with unique needs and goals. We listen closely and use our vast experience and knowledge of the law to develop the best strategic approach for you and your family. Whether it’s settlement negotiations, drafting agreements, mediating cases, presenting contested cases in court or arguing appeals, you benefit from the wealth of experience our attorneys employ to help achieve a successful outcome.
We use many alternative dispute resolution methods but sometimes litigation may be necessary to resolve family law disputes. Cases often settle before trial, but if not, litigation starts by filing a lawsuit and typically involves formal written discovery, depositions and other court procedures. While our lawyers always strive to help clients avoid the cost (financial and emotional) of litigation, in some cases litigation is appropriate or inevitable.
When litigation is unavoidable, our lawyers have decades of trial and appellate experience, and they bring a straightforward results-oriented approach. No single strategy is appropriate for every court case, and our Family Law attorneys are particularly adept at developing strategies uniquely suited to each individual client.
Family law issues can also involve other areas of the law. Our attorneys draw on the experience of their Shulman Rogers colleagues in the areas of business ownership, employment, criminal law, executive compensation, intellectual property rights, international law, real estate, tax, domestic violence and trusts and estates.
Our attorneys routinely lecture, write and educate on family law issues to individuals, other lawyers, professionals and judges throughout the region. Our team members are well-respected and often recognized for their expertise by publications including Washingtonian Magazine, Bethesda Magazine, Best Lawyers, Super Lawyers, The Daily Record and AVVO.
We look forward to assisting you with your important family issues.
