Serving as land use counsel to The Howard Hughes Corporation, Shulman Rogers’ Todd Brown helped secure approval of the Final Development Plan and Neighborhood Documents for the next development area in Downtown Columbia. Known as Lakefront North, the 12-acre site is dominated today by a large surface parking area.
The Howard County Planning Board approved the Final Development Plan Design Guidelines and Neighborhood Documents for 200,000 square feet of office, 150,000 square feet of retail/restaurant/fitness uses and 775 dwelling units to be constructed in multiple buildings up to 145 feet in height. The area has been designed as a continuation of the grid street and block system approved for the Lakefront Core Neighborhood and will contain a mix of uses, open spaces and amenities. Lakefront North is a part of the overall Downtown Columbia Master Plan, approved for 14 Million total square feet. Howard Hughes is the principal land owner and master developer.
