Todd Brown secures zoning approval for Urban Renewal Project
June 6, 2018
As land use counsel, Todd Brown worked with Orchard Development Corporation and its team of consultants to secure Howard County Zoning Board approval for the redevelopment of the Long Reach Village Center. The conceptual plan includes up to:
- 134,000 square feet of retail, restaurant and office uses;
- 73 townhouses;
- 110 senior housing units; and
- 132 multi-family units.
The Howard County Council had declared the mostly vacant Village Center blighted and purchased a portion of the Center to spur its redevelopment. Orchard expanded the footprint to include additional land, and in 2017-2018, Todd guided Orchard and its team through the Zoning Board process resulting in the approval. Todd worked previously with Orchard on the New Cultural Center in Downtown Columbia, a mixed-use center approved for 115,692 square feet of theaters, studios, classroom and gallery space and 192 multi-family dwelling units.
