Speakers

Joey Sylvester is Area Senior Vice President and the Southeast Regional Cyber Practice Leader at Gallagher. Joey focuses his time on bringing cyber risk management and risk transfer solutions to Gallagher clients across North America. His particular area of expertise is related to cyber emerging risks in critical infrastructure and delivering risk management advice and services to help support and bolster clients’ cyber defenses. He is an Artificial Intelligence Governance Professional and has certifications in the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, using that expertise to support clients in assessing and improving overall cybersecurity maturity as well as using assessment results to improve results in the insurance market.

Joey was named a Risk & Insurance Power Broker for Cyber in 2020 and again in 2022. He holds a Master’s Degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology and recently obtained a second Master’s degree in Cybersecurity Risk and Strategy from New York University.

With a background in startup advising, he is skilled at working with companies to solve problems, particularly through the implementation of innovative technology. He grew up in Maryland and has received a Master’s in Business Administration from Loyola University Maryland, with a focus on entrepreneurship.

Dean Merritt, Esq., is a Vice President of Sales at Mindgrub Technologies, where he helps businesses leverage digital solutions, including AI. He previously worked in legal technology after graduating from the University of Baltimore School of Law and clerking for Judge M. Brooke Murdock. In addition to his professional work, Dean is a licensed real estate broker with experience in commercial and residential transactions. He enjoys coaching his three sons and playing pickup basketball in his free time.
