Confidential Multiple Six-Figure Settlement Achieved in Premises Liability Case

Shulman Rogers is pleased to announce a multiple six-figure settlement obtained on behalf of our client in a Virginia premises liability case. Our client suffered a thoracic spinal fracture after falling on black ice on concrete steps. The premises owner had failed to salt or sand the steps despite rain and freezing temperatures the night before the incident. The injury required surgery and the installation of hardware in her back. When that hardware later failed, she underwent a second surgery, and extensive physical therapy.

Despite significant challenges to the liability portion of the case, our team prevailed by leveraging photographic evidence and deposition testimony demonstrating that the premises owner had prior notice of the dangerous conditions and failed to act. While our client continues to live with hardware in her back, the nearly half-million dollar settlement provides meaningful compensation and a path forward from an unexpected and life-altering ordeal.
