Shulman Rogers Secures Appellate Victory in Maryland Business Litigation Matter
Shulman Rogers is pleased to announce a successful result for two clients in the Appellate Court of Maryland in a complex business litigation appeal.
The case arose from a business dispute tried before a jury in the Circuit Court for Baltimore County. At the close of the plaintiff’s case, the trial court granted the motion for judgment in favor of our clients on all counts, concluding that the plaintiff failed to present legally sufficient evidence to support his claims. The plaintiff subsequently appealed that ruling.
In a decision issued on April 29th, 2026, the Appellate Court of Maryland affirmed the trial court’s judgment in full. The appellate court agreed that the plaintiff had failed to establish the necessary causal connection between the alleged conduct and the damages claimed and upheld the dismissal of claims for breach of contract, fraud, negligent misrepresentation, conversion, and civil conspiracy.
“I’m pleased that the jury returned a verdict in our clients’ favor in this high-stakes business dispute, and that the appellate court affirmed, agreeing with me that the plaintiff failed to establish a viable legal claim,” said Joshua.
The case involved allegations stemming from the sale of several business entities and related disputes among former business partners. The appellate court’s opinion reinforced the principle that claims for contractual and tort damages must be supported by legally sufficient evidence demonstrating actual harm and causation.
Joshua Glikin led the matter with Lauren Upton. Their successful defense preserved the complete judgment in favor of the clients and brought the litigation to a favorable conclusion.
