October 18, 2019 (POTOMAC, Md.) — Working with Master Developer, Howard Hughes Corporation, Shulman Rogers’ Land Use and Zoning attorney, Todd Brown, helped secure the site development plan approval for a new 15-story hotel to be constructed in the Merriweather District of Downtown Columbia. The Howard County Planning Board approved the site development plan at its meeting on October 17, 2019. The hotel is approved for 208 keys, more than 10,000 square feet of meeting space and will be owned and operated by Howard Hughes Corporation through its hospitality division. The new building will also house a restaurant and bar and will complement the mix of retail, restaurant, office and residential space approved and already built or under construction in the Merriweather District. Full buildout for the District will contain 4.8 Million square feet, part of the 14 Million square feet Master Plan for Downtown Columbia. Todd serves as land use counsel to Howard Hughes Corporation.
