Quick implementation of the new NISPOM insider threat requirements is a good way for government contractors with facility clearances to reduce risks and gain competitive advantages. The new rules require these contractors to gather, integrate and report information on insider threats from the activities of cleared personnel, as well as, deter, detect and mitigate potential harm to national security from such threats.
An implementation plan needs to be in place by November 30, 2016 and effective implementation needs to synchronize special classified DOD/IC operations with legal, technical, security, HR and other areas across the enterprise.
