POTOMAC, MD. October 19, 2020 – Press Ganey recently announced the expansion of its health care consumerism platform with the acquisition of Doctor.com.
Shulman Rogers was pleased to represent Doctor.com in this complex and fast-moving M&A transaction that was completed in just 45 days. The multidisciplinary team of attorneys was led by Mergers and Acquisitions Group Chair, Aaron Ghais, and included Eric Kurtz, Larry Bard, Keith Marshall, Bob Canter, Felix Kushnir, Tim Bryan, Joy Einstein, and Marc Bergoffen. “Our legal team worked elbow-to-elbow and around-the-clock with Doctor.com’s incredible senior management team, advising them on a number of challenging issues and ultimately helping them to execute on their exit strategy,” said Ghais.
Founded in 2012 with the mission of helping healthcare organizations deliver a better customer experience at every step of the digital patient journey, Doctor.com functions as a holistic and robust customer experience platform — and as the only offering in the industry that seamlessly integrates web-wide listings management, reputation insights, universal online scheduling, patient communications, provider data warehousing, and telemedicine — was an especially attractive target for Press Ganey.
Doctor.com was an early client of NEXT™, powered by Shulman Rogers, the law firm’s platform for startup and emerging growth companies. “It has been a privilege to have been there from the beginning providing a full range of legal services to Doctor.com, including its initial fundraising rounds, multiple later stage rounds, an acquisition, and the sale of Doctor.com to Press Ganey. We look forward to the opportunity to work with their team on future endeavors,” said Anthony Millin, Chair of NEXT.
Co-Founder and CEO, Andrei Zimiles, said of his experience working with NEXT and with this M&A transaction team, “Since our earliest days, Shulman Rogers has been a trusted and capable partner for Doctor.com. Their NEXT program afforded us access to a full range of legal talent and services for significantly less than the cost of hiring an in-house general counsel. This was particularly valuable in the early years when budgets were tight and our legal needs were diverse. Since then, Shulman Rogers has been able to scale with us as we’ve grown, supporting the business through multiple financings and ultimately through this rigorous and accelerated process with Press Ganey. We couldn’t be more excited about our future mission to grow Press Ganey’s new Consumerism division and we are grateful for the support and hard work from the Shulman Rogers team that helped make this great outcome for Doctor.com possible.”
