Did you know DC is offering a Business License Amnesty Program from January 1, 2016 to February 29, 2016?

January 15, 2016

This week we are building on our theme of new marketing strategies for the new year. The Amnesty Program presents another opportunity for you to reach out to your past clients. If you have worked with investors who are renting out units, or someone who bought property with a basement unit that he or she intends to rent out, those individuals need a basic business license in DC.

Between now and February 29, 2016, individuals who are required to have a business license can obtain one without paying penalties, late fees or delinquent filing fees. Touch base with your clients, inform them of the Amnesty Program and see if they are interested in selling their units or purchasing another one. For more information about the Amnesty Program, click here. For more information about business licenses for rentals click here.

IMPORTANT NOTE: DO NOT cold call landlords or other individuals with whom you have no previous relationship. The Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) contains prohibitions against cold calling. Next week, we’ll discuss the TCPA and marketing plans in more detail.

If you would like to know more about business licenses or how your current and former clients could be affected if they do not a have a business license, contact one of the attorneys listed below.
