The Heartsongs Luncheon Fund was established as a tribute to Mattie J.T. Stepanek, a child poet, peacemaker, and an inspiration to us all. Mattie was a long-time patient of Children’s National Health System in Washington, D.C. before he lost his battle with a rare form of muscular dystrophy in June 2004. To honor Mattie, and the enormous efforts put forth by the family of doctors and nurses at Children’s, not just on Mattie’s behalf, but on behalf of the thousands of children treated at the Hospital every year, the Heartsongs Luncheon Fund was created to support the Hospital’s Critical Care Units.
The Heartsongs Fund was founded by Shulman Rogers’ own Lisa Friedlander in 2001. Since then, Heartsongs has raised well over $1 million since its inception and has honored hundreds of staff members and community leaders..
Shulman Rogers is honored to support wonderful philanthropic organizations in Maryland, D.C. and Virginia. Our commitment to service finds expression beyond our client relationships. We volunteer our time and energy to many charities, foundations and other organizations working to improve our schools, our neighborhoods and our business environment.
Shulman Rogers’s Community Outreach Committee identifies, coordinates and executes volunteer activities throughout Montgomery County and Metro Washington. In addition to regular service events, activities and other contributions, the firm supports a local or regional charity on a monthly basis.
