POTOMAC, Md., April 28, 2010 –The law firm of Shulman Rogers is pleased to announce the promotion of Matthew D. Alegi to shareholder. Mr. Alegi is chair of the firm’s Residential Real Estate Practice Group and his experience spans a wide range of real estate and finance related areas. He facilitates residential real estate settlements, advises local banks and assists companies and individuals involved in complex commercial transactions and title insurance disputes.

Mr. Alegi is also a member of a number of other practice groups at the firm including the Commercial Lending, Commercial Real Estate Acquisitions and Dispositions, Title Dispute Resolution, International, and Distressed Assets Practice Groups. He focuses his practice primarily on representing buyers, sellers, and lenders in the acquisition, sale and financing of property.

Given the ever changing regulatory climate, Mr. Alegi advises title insurance agents, mortgage brokers, builders, developers, real estate brokers and banks regarding day-to-day operations and regulatory compliance. He also represents clients involved in real estate contract disputes.

Mr. Alegi is currently Co-Chair of the Bar Association of Montgomery County’s Real Estate Section and is a regular speaker at continuing legal and professional education courses, including acting as the keynote speaker at a day-long course covering the fundamentals of real estate closings in Maryland. He is also a Maryland licensed Real Estate Broker. While attending Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law, Mr. Alegi was a Merit Scholar and Associate Editor of The Journal of Contemporary Health Law and Policy.
