Britney Martin focuses her practice on the legal needs of early-stage and emerging growth companies, bringing a sharp understanding of both the business and legal realities founders face as they build and scale.
Prior to joining Shulman Rogers, Britney worked at a global law firm where she advised technology companies on equity and debt financings, entity formation, equity compensation, and corporate governance. Her experience spans a wide range of transaction types, including stock purchase agreements, convertible notes, SAFEs, stockholder and board consents, and closing deliverables for complex financing rounds. She has supported companies from initial formation through multiple rounds of growth capital, giving her a practical view of what founders and investors need at each stage.
Britney also brings meaningful experience in intellectual property, having worked with the Copyright Alliance and the Association of American Publishers on copyright litigation strategy, licensing guidance, and regulatory analysis. That background adds real depth for startup clients navigating IP protection, licensing structures, and emerging technology questions.
Before law school, Britney earned a Master of Arts in English and African-American Literature from North Carolina A&T State University, where she graduated summa cum laude, and a Bachelor of Science in English Secondary Education. She earned her J.D. from The George Washington University Law School, where she served as Academic Chair of the Black Law Students Association.
