Hatch Exhibits Pivots to Protect Front-Line Medical Workers

May 1, 2020

We have heard a lot of great stories about companies who have found ways to “pivot” in order to stay afloat during the COVID-19 pandemic. Shulman Rogers’ client, Hatch Exhibits, has not only pivoted, but has found a way to make a substantial contribution to support healthcare workers fighting on the front lines.

Soon after making the difficult decision to furlough his employees, Chris McCormick, President of Hatch, realized that he could transform his Maryland factory, typically used to fabricate colorful displays and pop-up exhibition booths, to make Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Chris and his wife Tracy, along with the rest of the team quickly worked to develop prototypes of gowns and face shields and have delivered more than 20,000 products to hospitals in need of PPE.

More recently, Hatch developed the idea of Shield Pals and established a separate online store at which sells “PPE with Heart”.  They have developed face shields with cute and comforting designs and are already receiving orders in the tens of thousands.  When asked if they would consider producing face shields with our favorite political figures, Tracy demurred “Only if we feature both parties.”

Shulman Rogers attorney, Felix Kushnir, is proud to serve as counsel to Hatch Exhibits, and support their valiant efforts. Of working with Hatch, he said “Hatch continues to inspire me with their perseverance, creativity and talent.  In addition, when I talk with Chris and Tracy, I can feel how deeply they care about their employees.”

The Washington Post recently featured McCormick and his incredible story in this article.
