FCC Adopts Orders to Facilitate PTC in Northeast, Represented by Alan Tilles

The FCC adopted two related orders that it said will facilitate the deployment of congressionally mandated positive train control (PTC) safety systems by three of the country’s busiest commuter railroads: the Long Island Railroad (LIRR), Metro-North Railroad (Metro-North) and New Jersey Transit (NJ Transit).
The commission proposed modifying 218 – 219 MHz service station license KIVD0002, which the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) acquired to implement PTC for its LIRR and Metro-North subsidiaries.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is represented by Alan Tilles and the Telecommunications Department at Shulman Rogers. The firm successfully petitioned the FCC to reallocate unused spectrum in four of the MTA’s covered counties for positive train control (PTC) operations.
