July 6, 2015
Emily Gordy, chair of Shulman Rogers’ Financial Regulatory and Compliance Practice, has been recognized as one of the nation’s top Regulatory & Compliance Trailblazers of 2015 by The National Law Journal (NLJ). The National Law Journal recognizes individuals who have made a difference navigating the ever-changing mandates of regulation and compliance.
Emily was recognized as one of the nation’s leading experts on federal Anti-Money Laundering law and regulation, an area of crucial importance to financial services institutions and many other businesses and individuals in the U.S. and abroad. When the Patriot Act became law in the wake of 9/11, Emily was “on the front lines and took a leadership role” crafting regulatory guidance, shaping industry compliance standards, and establishing examination and enforcement policy for financial institutions regulated by FINRA. Above all, Emily’s success is rooted in her exceptional collaboration skills: as she sums up her approach, “a regulator who has insight and perspective plus the ability to listen to the stakeholders can really benefit all involved.”
