Andrew Friedman discusses SEC’s retail investor focus with Law360

In his first year, SEC Chairman Jay Clayton has shown a clear initiative to protect retail investors. Law360’s recent article “Clayton Shifts SEC Focus To Retail Investors In First Year” explains new initiatives under Clayton’s leadership, who has led the organization for exactly one year as of May 2018.

However, the agency can only cover so much ground. Shulman Rogers’ White Collar Attorney Andrew Friedman is quoted in the article saying, “There are rules and regulations that the larger firms that are more institutional can violate, and if the SEC is not looking at that very hard, then it potentially creates an environment where that kind of activity can grow.”
