Allison Baker Shealy to moderate ABA panel on cryptocurrency tax issues

Allison Baker Shealy will serve as moderator for a panel during the 2018 ABA Section of Taxation May Meeting on Saturday, May 12.
Allison will moderate “The Life and Taxing of a Cryptocurrency.” This panel will follow the life cycle of a cryptocurrency and the tax issues that arise at each stage including the formation of the entity issuing the token, solicitation of investors via a SAFT, token launch and acceptance on an exchange, and tokens held for investment purposes and used similar to fiat currency.

Allison draws on her extensive experience in securities enforcement, white collar defense and her many years as a Senior Trial Attorney with the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s Division of Enforcement to shepherd clients through the regulatory landscape as applied to virtual currencies and tokens, including but not limited to the launch of initial coin offerings and sale of virtual currencies.
