Biography

Lauren Upton represents employers in a wide range of employment and commercial litigation matters throughout Maryland and the District of Columbia. She is known for her responsiveness, attention to detail, and ability to adapt to each client’s specific needs.

Her employment practice covers claims of discrimination, wrongful discharge, harassment, retaliation, employee misconduct, restrictive covenant disputes, and wage and hour violations, both in administrative proceedings and in court. Lauren takes a proactive approach, counseling employers on compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and helping them develop workplace policies, agreements, and employee handbooks before disputes arise.

Lauren’s commercial litigation background includes breach of contract, business torts, and intellectual property disputes in both state and federal court.

Before joining Shulman Rogers, Lauren practiced at civil litigation firms in Baltimore, where she developed litigation strategy, prepared pleadings, argued motions, and represented clients in jury trials, bench trials, and mediations. Before entering private practice, she clerked for the Honorable Joseph M. Getty of the Supreme Court of Maryland and the Honorable Paul J. Hanley of Baltimore County Circuit Court. She earned her J.D. from Wake Forest University School of Law.
