Consular Legal Services
Both Immigrant and Nonimmigrant Visas are adjudicated/issued at U.S. embassies and consulates overseas. Given the extraordinary bureaucratic delays of the Department of Homeland Security - Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services (former Immigration and Naturalization Service) in adjudicating Applications to Adjust Status (to Permanent Resident) within the U.S., consular processing abroad of Immigrant Visa Applications often offers individuals and dependent family members a faster track to obtaining their greencards. Shulman Rogers Immigration, Nationality & Consular Practice Group offers its clients the resources to effectively deal with every U.S. consular post abroad.
Naturalization Legal Services
After obtaining permanent residence, individuals may elect to pursue U.S. citizenship through naturalization. U.S. residence and physical presence are required for varying periods of time depending upon how one obtained his or her greencard in order to qualify. Other criteria affect one's eligibility for naturalization often making the process more complex than initially apparent.
Immigration Litigation Legal Services
Permanent Residents as well as other persons who violate the U.S. Immigration Laws are subject to deportation/removal from the United States. Violations of the U.S. Immigration Laws not only include criminal offenses and entry into the United States without inspection. Individuals are also subject to deportation/removal from the U.S. for other violations, including working without authorization as well as remaining in the U.S. past the period of time for which they were admitted. Shulman Rogers offers a full array of immigration litigation services to persons in Deportation/Removal Proceedings before the U.S. Immigration Court, Board of Immigration Appeals and federal appellate courts.
Our Practice Philosophy
Meticulous attention to detail, creative problem solving and a result oriented focus are hallmarks of Shulman Rogers' Immigration, Nationality & Consular Practice Group. We think the most effective way to deal with a problem is to prevent the problem before it occurs. Careful planning and foundation building at the initiation of a case ensures a smooth process on the track to the desired result.
