Michelle Daley Becomes a LEED Accredited Professional
July 9, 2009The federal government, state governments, including Maryland, and counties are now requiring that new buildings – commercial, residential, and otherwise – as well as retrofits conform to the requirements of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System™, an internationally-accepted certification program administered by the U.S. Green Building Council that measures energy savings, water efficiency, carbon dioxide emissions reduction, improved indoor environmental quality, and stewardship of resources in building project design and implementation. Green practices are increasingly incorporated into state and local zoning and building codes and ordinances – the number of counties with green building programs has grown nearly 400% since 2003. To become a LEED Accredited Professional (“LEED AP”), Ms. Daley demonstrated a thorough understanding, through testing, of green building practices and principles, as well as familiarity with LEED requirements, resources, and processes. She was one of the first attorneys in the State to become accredited as a LEED Professional. Ms. Daley is well-equipped to support and encourage integrated design and streamline the application and certification process for building projects of all kinds. In addition, projects earn one point toward LEED Certification when a LEED AP serves as a principal participant on the project team. If you need a LEED AP to help guide you through your project’s LEED certification process, contact Ms. Daley directly at (301) 230-5240.
