Summer Associate Program

We have filled our openings for our upcoming 2012 Summer Associates Program.

Program

The Summer Associate Program is typically a ten week-long program beginning the first of June each summer.  We seek several second year students who want to learn how to practice law in a dynamic and successful environment.  We offer an opportunity to be a contributing part of our Firm while developing your legal skills.  We take the Program seriously by teaching and evaluating future legal talent.  In this way, we are able to foster a superior attorney-base for our Firm in the years to come as we continue to grow and develop.

ASSIGNMENTS

We seek to expose our Summer Associates to all areas of practice and the Supervising Attorney will distribute varied substantive assignments to each Summer Associate from the Business and Financial Services, Commercial Litigation, Medical Malpractice/Personal Injury, Real Estate, Estates, Trusts and Elder Law, and Telecommunications Departments.  The Supervising Attorney will endeavor to match up assignments with the Summer Associate’s expressed areas of interest.

FEEDBACK AND EVALUATION

The Supervising Attorney will critique the work of each Summer Associate on a regular basis, provide general guidance on how to perform tasks and try to make the experience more fulfilling for all involved.  The Supervising Attorney will request a weekly report of work performed and, of course, be available to answer any questions.  An evaluation of the Summer Associate’s work performance will occur at the end of the Program providing invaluable feedback and insight.  We hope to hear at the end of each summer that the Program taught them more about law than any course they have taken in law school.

If there is a sufficient workload and the Firm desires to establish a long term relationship, we may ask one or more Summer Associates to work no more than twenty (20) hours per week during their third school year.  By continuing the Summer Associate experience into the third year, we offer an opportunity to earn an Associate position with the Firm, if one becomes available.   Thereafter, we would hope to offer positions of employment as Associate Attorneys so the Summer Associate can become a valuable member of the Firm for years to come.  The Firm will pay all fees and expenses (maximum $3,000) related to Bar Review courses, Bar Applications and Bar Exams for any Summer Associate who receives and accepts an offer for an entry-level Associate position.

We have filled our openings for our 2012 Summer Associate Program.  We will begin to accept applications for our 2013 Summer Associate Program in August 2012.
