
Mr. Van Grack has extensive experience in complex civil and criminal litigation matters at both the trial and appellate levels. He primarily handles commercial litigation, real estate cases, and construction law focusing on the representation of home builders and land developers. Mr. Van Grack also handles a broad range of complex civil litigation issues, including tort defense, environmental litigation, securities fraud litigation, legal malpractice, and bankruptcy litigation.
Prior to joining Shulman, Rogers, Gandal, Pordy & Ecker, Mr. Van Grack worked in the civil litigation practice group of a law firm in Washington, D.C. He further worked on a broad range of environmental litigation issues as an attorney for the Interdisciplinary Environmental Law Clinic of Washington University. Mr. Van Grack also clerked for Federal District Court Judge David R. Herndon of the Southern District of Illinois. Prior to his legal practice, Mr. VanGrack worked on environmental and domestic issues for U.S. Senator Paul S. Sarbanes and Vice President Al Gore.
Mr. Van Grack is the author of Serious Error with "Serious Error": Repairing A Broken System of Capital Punishment, 79 Wash. U. L.Q. 973 (2001), and Elevating Form Over Substance: A Reply to Professors James Liebman, Jeffrey Fagan and Valerie West, 80 Wash. U. L.Q. 427 (2002). Mr. Van Grack received his undergraduate and law degrees from Washington University in St. Louis, where he was one of only three law graduates to achieve membership in both the Order of the Coif and Order of Barristers. While at Washington University School of Law, he was elected Executive Articles Editor of the Washington University Law Quarterly.
Mr. Van Grack currently serves as the Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bethesda Center of Excellence and is a former U.S. Olympic Trials Qualifier in Whitewater Kayak Slalom.
