Entertainment Law
Shulman Rogers' Entertainment Practice brings together the Firm's various and varied legal disciplines to provide entertainers with a "complete package" of legal services necessary to ensure an artist's success. From contract negotiation, to protection of an artist's intellectual property and copyrights, to tax and trust planning, Shulman Rogers is pleased to be able to assist entertainers in the furtherance of their careers.
The Entertainment Practice Group is chaired by former musician and talent agent, Alan Tilles. Mr. Tilles is also a member of the Entertainment and Sports Law Committee of the Maryland State Bar Association. He has written extensive articles for music industry magazine Goldmine (www.collect.com) on Tower of Power (www.bumpcity.com), which has been reprinted on the Rhino Handmade Records website (www.rhinohandmade.com), and the Average White Band (www.averagewhiteband.com) which was included on the band's recent DVD release.
In addition to Tower of Power, the roster of entertainers which the firm has worked with on a variety of issues includes Ambrosia (www.coachhouserecords.com), Washington, D.C. area favorite Deanna Bogart (www.deannabogart.com), as well as one of the nation's foremost close-up magicians, Jamy Ian Swiss (www.jamyianswiss.com). The firm is also working with original Tower of Power trumpet player Mic Gillette (www.micgillette.com) and Kat Parsons (http://www.katparsons.com/) on their new music projects.
Shulman Rogers was honored to act as a consultant for the Francis "Rocco" Prestia Medical Fund. Rocco is Tower of Power's legendary bass player, and was in need of a liver transplant. Fortunately, a donor was found, and Rocco has had a successful recovery.
