Howard Ross is a shareholder in the Corporate Department, focusing his practice on corporate and commercial transactions, and advising businesses and individuals regarding business planning, finance, real estate and tax matters. Mr. Ross frequently serves as general counsel for the life of his clients' businesses.
Mr. Ross' substantial business experience was enhanced by his serving as an Acquisitions Director, and subsequently, General Counsel for a public company based in New York. He has lectured on corporate and tax matters at Georgetown University Law Center and at the international conventions of the Messenger and Courier Association of America.
A native Washingtonian who graduated from Walt Whitman High School in 1971, Mr. Ross was formerly a partner with Troutman Sanders in Tysons Corner, Virginia (where he founded the firm's corporate and securities practice group in 2000). Prior to that, he was a partner with the law firm of Silver, Freedman and Taff, where he worked for twenty years. Mr. Ross served on the Board of Directors of the Greater Washington Jewish Community Center for ten years. He was recently appointed by Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett to serve on the Montgomery County Executive's Affordable Housing Task Force.
