Mr. von Vorys' practice focuses on matters involving internet and technology law, including domestic and foreign intellectual property, primarily trademarks, copyrights and domain name disputes, as well as general corporate matters, such as business contracts and licenses. He works with computer companies, e-commerce businesses and other technology clients to develop and protect their intellectual property interests by reviewing, drafting and negotiating licensing agreements involving patented inventions, computer software, trademarks and copyrighted works. In addition, Mr. von Vorys successfully opposes infringing trademark application, protecting numerous trademarks of firm clients. Among his noteworthy cases are Phillips International, Inc. v. Tella, Case No. 095461 (NAF Sept. 21, 2000) (Perluss, Arb.) and Strum v. Nordic Net Exchange AB, Case No. 102843 (NAF Feb. 14, 2002) (Hill, Arb.), in which he was successful in securing the transfer of domain names from cybersquatters to legitimate trademark owners. Mr. von Vorys also has experience with Maryland and District of Columbia raffles and sweepstakes laws and regulations. He was counsel for USLaw.com, an on-line legal resource provider and interned for Judge Charles R. Weiner at the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
Mr. von Vorys is a member of the Intellectual Property and Technology Law Section of the Bar Association of Montgomery County. He regularly speaks at seminars on Intellectual Property issues.
